I am a PhD Candidate at the Chair of Computational Social Science at the Technical University of Munich. In my research, I focus on transnational and digital activism, deviant subcultures, and how proximity dynamics play into the formation of social networks and collective identity. I am passionate about using computational methods to analyze the laws of society.
I am more than happy to be part of the team at the Chair of Computational Social Science at the Technical University of Munich and to be supervised by Jürgen Pfeffer. In my work, I am using computational methods to analyze social phenomena. My research is dedicated to social movements, collective identity, subcultures, and stigmatization processes. Methodically, I am interested in the analysis of social networks, influencing factors on social cohesion and information diffusion, and the process of building and labeling of (collective) identities. In this context, I also included perspectives from activists or forensic patients to give them a voice in research by employing qualitative methods. My background is in Social Sciences and Criminology, which I studied at the University of Augsburg, the University of Regensburg, and the Chiao Tung University in Taiwan. At the University of Edinburgh, I was lucky to complete a research stay as a visiting PhD.
Activist Perspectives on Transnational Networks: This project is part of the Transnational Political Networks Research Group at the Northeastern Universtiy and led by Prof. Mai'a Davis Cross (Center for International Affairs and World Cultures). The project is supported by a grant from Carnegie Corporation of New York. In this project, I am including the perspective of antifascist activists in Greece, Italy, and Germany to ground my quantitative findings.
MOMAP - Mobilization Mapping: This project is a collaboration with Raphael Richter from the University of Regensburg. Our goal is the promoton of democracy in the context of mobilization. We investigate mobilization in the forms of social movements, political initiatives, and campaigns in Germany and are developping a tool to visualize them.
SNoMaN Project: Social Network Mapping Nexus. In this project we are currently preparing a joint publication of "data stories" on networks and spatial dynamics. The project is led by Prof. Clio Andris and based @ Georgia Institute of Technology.
